Marine (v. lat.), 1) Alles, was zum Seewesen eines Staates gehört, also die Flotte (Kriegsschiffe, deren Zahl, Bauart, etc.), alle dazu gehörige Militär- u. Civilbediente, die Häfen, ihre Einrichtung u. Vertheidigungsanstalten, die Schifffahrtskunst; 2) die Küste hart am Meere.
