Piscator

Piscator (lat. für Fischer), reformirter Theolog, geb. 27. März 1546 in Strasburg, studirte daselbst u. in Tübingen Theologie, wurde Professor in Strasburg, 1574 in Heidelberg, 1577 Conrector in Siegen, 1578 Professor am Casimirianum in Neustadt an der Hardt, 1581 in Moeurs u. 1584 Conrector an der Akademie in Herborn, wo er 1625 starb. Er übersetzte die Bibel, Herb. 1602 f. 3 Bde., 3. A. 1624, Anhang dazu 1610, 2 Bde. 2. A. 1624; u. schr. Commentare zu den Canonischen Büchern der Bibel, über die des Neuen Testaments 1613–58, über die des Alten Testaments 1646; Aphorismi doctrinae christ., Herb. 1619; Explicatio catechismi Heidelberg., 1622; Werke 1643.
