Pordage

Pordage (spr. Pordahsch), John, geb. um 1625, Arzt u. Prediger, st. 1698 in London. Ein Schwärmer, suchte er Jakob Böhms Ansichten, welche ihm durch göttliche Offenbarung bestätigt sein sollten, in ein System zu bringen. Er bediente sich dabei kabbalistischer u. pythagoreischer Formeln, indem er in der Trinität den Vater die Monas, den Sohn die Dyas u. den Heiligen Geist die Trias nannte u. alles Existirende durch Emanation aus dem Ewigen hervorgegangen sein ließ. Unter seinen Anhängern haben sich bes. Jane Leade u. Thomas Bromley die Fortpflanzung seiner Ansichten in der Philadelphischen Societät angelegen sein lassen.
