Passaic Rivers durchflossen, viele kleine, fischreiche Seen; gebirgig (durch die Highlands); in den Thälern sehr fruchtbar mit schönem Weideland; Producte: Mais, Hafer, Kartoffeln, Eisen, Sandstein, Rindvieh, Schafe; die New York-Erie Eisenbahn durchschneidet die Grafschaft; 1798 organisirt; 1850: 16,962 Ew.; Hauptort: Clarkstown; 2) (früher East Thomaston) Postort in der Grafschaft Lincoln des Staats Maine, auf einer Halbinsel am Atlantischen Ocean; Hafen, Handel, Schifffahrt; 6000 Einw.
