Saurus (S. Cuv.), Fischgattung, genommen aus der Gattung Lachs (Salmo L.), hat kurze Schnauze, tief gespaltenes Maul, in den Kinnladen, am Gaumen u. auf der Zunge viele Zähne, große Schuppen; Art: Seeeidechse (S. lacerta, S. saurus), oben grünlichschwarz, blau, grün- u. braungefleckt, im Mittelmeere, dem Rothen Meere u.a.; S. foetens, S. tumbil u.a.
