Silbert, Johann Peter, geb. 29. März 1772 in Kolmar, war Lehrer der Französischen Sprache u. Literatur am Polytechnischen Institut in Wien u.[100] st. daselbst 1844. Er wirkte bes. in der Katholischen Kirche zur Gesangbuchsreform seit 1819 mit, indem er mehre Lieder aus alter Zeit u. aus fremden Sprachen übersetzte in Heilige Lyra, 2. A. Wien 1820; Dom heiliger Sänger, Wien 1835; Mannathau in der Wüste des Lebens (religiöse Gedichte), Pforzh. 1842.
