Spies, Moritz von S., geb. 1805, begleitete 1831 Klenze nach Griechenland, unter dessen Leitung er sich an den dort errichteten öffentlichen Bauten betheiligte, trat nach seiner Rückkehr als Offizier in das baierische Ingenieurcorps u. ging als Major 1846 nach Frankfurt, wo er erst Referent in dem Reichskriegsministerium u. dann dem baierischen Militärbevollmächtigten beim Bunde beigegeben wurde; später zum Obersten befördert, wurde er Commandant des Geniecorps in München u. im Juni 1861 Generalmajor u. Kriegsminister; er st. 10. Octbr. 1662.
