Stillingfleet (spr. Stillingflieht), Edward, geb. 17. April 1635 zu Cranbourne in Dorsetshire, studirte in Cambridge, wurde 1657 Pfarrer in Suttom, 1664 Prediger an der Rolls Chapel in London, 1665 Rector an der St. Andrew- u. Prediger an der Temple-Kirche, 1667 Caplan des Königs Karl II., 1677 Archidiakon in London, 1678 Dekan der Paulskirche u. 1689 Bischof von Worcester; er st. 27. März 1699 in Westminster. Seine Schriften, welche sich auf die Vertheidigung des Glaubens gegen die Deisten, der Kirche gegen die Dissenters sowie der Rechte der Kirche u. endlich des Protestantismus gegen die Katholiken beziehen, sind: Irenicum, 1659, 2.
