Strutt (spr. Strott), 1) Joseph, geb. 1747 in London; er st. daselbst 1802 u. schr.: The regal and ecclesiastical antiquities of England, London 1773; The chronicle of England, ebd. 1777, 2 Bde.; Biographical dictionary of all engravers, ebd. 1785, 2 Bde.; The sports and pastimes of the people of England, ebd. 1801. 2) William Goody, geb. 1762, trat 1778 in die britische Armee, wurde 1779 Capitän u. wirkte zur Vertheidigung von St. Lucie mit; 1782 diente er bei der Belagerung Gibraltars u. 1787 in Westindien. Als Oberstlieutenant ging er mit nach Flandern, wo er 1794 eine Brigade bei dem Angriff der französischen Armee bei Thiel commandirte, u. ward darauf nach St. Vincent gesendet. Bei seiner Rückkehr nach England wurde er zum Gouverneur von Stirling Castle, 1800 als Generalmajor zum Gouverneur von Quebec ernannt: wegen seiner Wunden nahm er bald seinen Abschied u. st. am 6. Februar 1848.
