Montebello 1) Marktflecken in der venetianischen Provinz Vicenza, am Aldega; 3900 Ew. Hier den 12. Nov. 1796 Sieg der Österreicher unter Alvinzi über die Franzosen; 1805 ungünstiges Gefecht für die Österreicher gegen die Franzosen; 2) (M.-Casteggio), Dorf in der piemontesischen Provinz Voghera, rechts am Coppa, unweit der Eisenbahn von Voghera nach Piacenza; 1480 Ew. Hier den 9. Juni 1800 Sieg der Franzosen unter General Lannes über die Österreicher unter General Ott, s. Französischer Revolutionskrieg III. H); davon hat Lannes den Herzogstitel. Hier am 20. Mai 1859 Gefecht zwischen den verbündeten Franzosen u. Sardiniern einer- u. den Österreichern andrerseits; Erstere Sieger; 3) ein zur Gemeinde Limbiate in der Provinz Mailand gehöriges Schloß mit Park, in welchem Bonaparte nach Abschließung des Vertrags von Leoben 1797 drei Monate lang Hauptquartier hielt; 4) Flecken in der neapolitanischen Provinz Calabria ulteriore I.; 2800 Ew.; 5) Flecken in der neapolitanischen Provinz Abruzzo ulteriore I.; 2000 Ew.
