Nethĭnim

Nethĭnim (hebr.), in den nach exilischen Büchern die den Leviten beigegebenen Tempeldiener, denen die niedrigsten Verrichtungen oblagen. Sie stammten von den Gibeoniten, welche Josua zu Holzhauern u. Wasserschöpfern bei der Stiftshütte gemacht hatte. Nach dem Talmud waren sie sehr verachtet u. durften keine Israeliten heirathen. Vgl. Will, De Nethinaeis, Altdorf 1745.
