Cosconĭus

Cosconĭus, 1) Cajus, focht im Bundesgenossenkrieg 99 v. Chr. mit abwechselndem Glück gegen die Samniten u. unterwarf mehrere aufständische Völkerschaften; 78 v. Chr. zog er mit gegen Dalmatien; 2) Cajus, war 64 v. Chr. Proconsul in Hispanien u. wurde nach Niederlegung seines Amtes wegen Erpressungen angeklagt; im Catilinarischen Proceß protokollirte er die Aussagen der Mitverschworenen u. st. 59 v. Chr.; 3) Cajus, war 59 v. Chr. Volkstribun, dann Ädilis u. Richter in dem Proceß des Sestius, welchen Cicero, der Freund des C., vertheidigte; er wurde 47 v. Chr. als Prätor von den Soldaten ermordet.
