Gouanĭa (G. L.), Pflanzengattung, nach Antoine Gouan (geb. 1733, Professor der Botanik in Montpellier, Verfasser mehrerer Floren von Montpellier u. anderer botanischen Schriften; st. 1821), benannt, aus der Familie der Rhamneae-Gouanieae, 23. Kl. 1. Ordn. L.; Arten: meist kletternde, oft- u. westindische Sträucher; u.a.: G. domingensis, der Saft gilt als magenstärkend, u. Zahnstocher aus dem bitteren Holze gemacht, als wohlthätig für das Zahnfleisch; ferner: G. cordifolia, G. integrifolia, G. mauritiana, G. tiliaefolia, G. tomentosa.
