Rumy, Georg Karl von R., geb. 18. Novbr. 1786 zu Iglo im Zipser Comitate, privatisirte in Göttingen, wo er 1799–1803 studirt hatte, wurde Professor der Philologie u. der Deutschen Literatur am evangelischen Lyceum zu Kesmark in Ungarn, 1805 Conrector u. Professor am evangelischen Lyceum zu Teschen in Schlesien, 1806 Prediger der Deutsch-evangelischen Gemeinde zu Schmölznitz im Zipser Comitate, 1810 Professor der Philosophie u. Geschichte in Ödenburg, 1813 der Ökonomie u. Güterverwaltungslehre am Georgikon zu Keszthely, 1816 Director u. Professor des Lyceums zu Karlowitz in Syrmien u. 1821 Subrector u. deutscher Katechet am evangelischen Lyceum in Presburg; er wurde katholisch u. lebte bis 1828 mit Schriftstellerei beschäftigt im Privatstande, wurde dann Professor der ungarischen u. vaterländischen Rechte in Gran u. starb daselbst 1847. Er schr.: Lehrbuch der Ökonomie, Wien 1808; Geographisch-statistisches Wörterbuch des österreichischen Kaiserstaats, ebd. 1809; Ökonomisch-technologische Belehrungen für Haushaltungen in der Stadt u. auf dem Lande, Pesth 1816, 2 Thle.; Anleitung zum Bierbrauen, Wien 1826.
