Cetrarīn

Cetrarīn (Cetrarsäure), C34H16O15, Bestandtheil des Isländischen Mooses (Cetraria islandica), aus dem es in Form von farblosen seinen Krystallen erhalten wird; es schmeckt äußerst bitter, ist nicht flüchtig u. in Wasser schwer, in Alkohol leicht löslich; es verbindet sich mit den Alkalien zu salzartigen Verbindungen, das Ammoniaksalz ist intensiv gelb gefärbt u. besitzt ebenfalls einen bitteren Geschmack. Das unreinere C. wird von Salzsäure schön blau, von Schwefelsäure roth gefärbt.
